Disasters can strike at anytime anywhere, will you and your family be ready? You should be aware of the risks in your area. Ask yourself do I live in a flood zone area, is my area known for hurricanes, earthquakes, hail storms, Tsunamis, wildfires, volcanoes, and tornadoes. If so you should plan according to the risk in your area.
Plan in advance where to meet if your family members are separated, like kids being in school, parents at work etc. Also have a certain person in which everyone will call to let them know where they are.
Prepare in advance an emergency supply kit. Figure out how much food and water your family will need for about 4 days. Today there is a variety of food storage containers that you can buy to use in your emergency kit. You can choose from freeze-dried fruits like strawberries, blueberries, peaches, bell peppers, cheese, meats for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some of the freeze-dried meals are fettuccine alfredo with or without chicken, beef stroganoff, beef stew, lasagna with meat sauce, chicken teriyaki with rice. Than there are dehydrated eggs, butter, tomatoes powder, low-fat granola. After you have everything you need put all your supplies into a large container with handles so that it will be easier to carry, but don’t make it to heavy.
A food storage container can also be used for your flashlight, batteries, radio, first-aid kit, matches, lighters, blankets, extra clothes, shoes, towels, paper plates, paper towels, wipes, plastic spoons, forks, knifes, tooth brush and paste, toilet paper and extra money. Also make copies of your insurance policies, mortgage papers, car information, family pictures, photo albums anything important to you and than burn them on a CD and place it into your container, or just keep the paper copies and put them into the container. Keep an up to date utility bill in the container to show proof that you were living there at the time of the diaster. Put your containers in a place that you can get to quickly.
If you live in a hurricane area the season runs between June and November in the United States. Most hurricanes are usually slow travelers so this will give you time to decide if you are going to stay or leave. If you are going to leave put your containers in the car early so that you will not leave anything. Leave early so that you will not get caught up in the traffic.
Tornado season is usually between April and July but sometimes it may come earlier. Those who have basements, or storm shelters should go there when they hear the sirens. Another safe place will be a room with no windows. If you live in a trailer home you should find other shelter and prepare to take your emergency kit with you.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, family is defined as a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head.
While this is a rather vague way of defining what normally constitutes a family, widespread assumption at one time was that a family was made up of a married couple and children produced by the two of them.
With the changes in usual American families over the past fifty years or so comes the realization that the traditional family of times past has nearly become a minority.
How, exactly, have families changed? Lets take a brief at some of these common family changes.
A half-century ago, divorce in in the United States was very uncommon, and those who chose to get a divorce were often shunned as social outcasts. Today, more than half of of marriages in the US end in divorce. Couples dont stay together just for the kids anymore. In addition, is that women arent often limited to staying in an unhappy marriage since they have more opportunities to work and support themselves and their kids. Further, divorce has become so common that it isnt unexpected any more.
Nowadays, many couples who divorce share custody of their children and the odds are that each will remarry. The second marriage of each person may produce children that are half-siblings to those from the first marriage. For any of these kids from either marriage, there are numerous brothers and sisters, half-brothers and sisters, a mother, a father, step-parents. All of these people can be considered family since they are close relatives that spend time together as a family.
Adoptingkids is also more common now and the adopted children are considered a part of the family that has adopted them. Foster children may live in homes for a short period of time or indefinitely. Some couples have numerous children from different parents living under their roof at one time and may consider this to be their family.
There is also a whole new world that has opened up in society with the controversy involving gay marriage. Gay couples live openly in committed relationships and have children either through adoption or surrogates. These are as far from the traditional definition of family as you can get, yet they are growing in number and are considered by most people to be families.
It is also inadequate to define a family as any group of people who live under one roof since your close family members may live far away from you and you can share a residence with someone as a roommate that you arent even close friends with.
Perhaps the best way to define the word family is by naming the thing that it is not limited to. A family is not limited to those who are genetically related. A family is not defined by its social status or name. A family is not limited to the number of people within its hold. It is not confined to certain religious beliefs, social acceptance, or similarity in interests or behaviors, similarity in color, or origin.
A family is made up of two or more people who have feelings towards each other that are based on what they have in common whether it is blood or respect or anything that matters to the people involved.

The Oreck company is known for making vacuums, but it also produces air cleaners and miscellaneous household products. The company makes several models of household vacuums, shop (wet/dry) vacuums, floor waxers and refinishers, and air purifiers.
The Oreck Corporation was founded by David Oreck in the United States in 1963. The company is based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and its principal manufacturing facilities are in a modern 375,000 square foot factory in Long Beach, Mississippi.
Oreck Corporation started as a manufacturer of upright vacuum cleaners for the hotel industry in the United States. They designed a lightweight yet powerful and durable vacuum which was preferred by hotel housekeepers over the very heavy models available at that time. Oreck vacuums proved so popular that they are now used in over 50,000 hotels worldwide. After using these efficient vacuums at work, hotel personnel wanted to buy the machines for home use, which prompted Oreck to manufacture household models as well as their commercial line. The Oreck XL 8-pound vacuum cleaner, aside from being one of the lightest models on the market, has a factory-tested estimated product lifespan of 18 years. The Oreck air cleaner works by attracting air particles such as pollen and dust onto an electrically-charged collection grid. One unit can clean the air of a 30 foot square room. After passing air over a collection plate to trap particles, an Air Revitalizer is added at the end of the air cleaner which releases negative ions to revitalize the air. The Air Revitalizer can be turned on or off on the Professional Air Purifier. The Oreck model functions differently from a HEPA filter. HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance, and These filters use a mat of very fine fibers to capture airborne particles.
HEPA filters create high resistance to airflow, which gets worse as the filter loads with dirt. This resistance causes HEPA units to use more energy , and cost more to operate. As the filter becomes more and more clogged, performance declines. Therefore, HEPA units require the user to frequently change the expensive filters. Since Oreck uses only a washable collection plate, continuing cost is not an issue with their air filters.
However, it is important to keep the collection cell clean, as it does not function well once it covered with dust. The company advises users to wash the collector after 4 weeks of initial use and every 8 weeks thereafter, but every house has a different amount of dust, so it is best to check the unit every few weeks to see whether a film has accumulated on the collector.

Is the Goldendoodle dog a good match for myself or my family? Many people seeking a family pet for the first time have many questions to ask themselves BEFORE considering a Goldendoodle. The first question is, can I afford to raise and own a Goldendoodle ? The second question would be, what is my lifestyle ? Many people do not take their lifestyle into consideration before adding a pet to their home.
Do you have time to spend with a Goldendoodle? Do you have time to devote to training your Goldendoodle? A Goldendoodle is a very family oriented, loving, affectionate and shaggy dog. They require YOUR time, patience, love, attention and your pocketbook. As a young puppy, the Goldendoodle does not require much coat maintenence, but as an adult, their coat will need to be groomed. One must take into consideration who is going to be the care taker of your new Goldendoodle, once it arrives at your home.

If you have considered a Goldendoodle for your next family pet, the next thing you’ll have to consider is your budget. While it may be true that you can locate a Goldendoodle for under $500, one must be wary of breeders who have their prices set very low. The average price for a Goldendoodle is approx. $500. The reason you should be wary of breeders who charge less than $500 is because many Goldendoodle breeders who charge under $500 for a Goldendoodle, are the breeders pet stores obtain their Goldendoodle puppies from. A pet store scouts the United States for Goldendoodle breeders who will sell the entire litter for a mere $500 so that they do not incur any expenses in caring for the puppies, yet the pet store will then turn around and sell each puppy for as much as $2000 or more. Because there are quite a few Goldendoodle breeders who are backbreeding, inbreeding and linebreeding their Goldendoodles, it is very important that you purchase only a first generation Goldendoodle. A first generation Goldendoodle means that they do not have closely related parents or they have parents who are not related at all. Any breeder that tells you a multi-generation Goldendoodle is a non-shedding, hypoallergenic dog and is a much healthier, better doodle than a first generation Goldendoodle is telling you a lie. A Goldendoodle will shed very little and have a coat that will still require some coat maintenence, regardless of whether they are first generation or multi generation. Every Goldendoodle, regardless of generation, will have a very soft shaggy coat (unless it has been backbred to a Golden Retriever); every Goldendoodle will work out for those with mild allergies (unless it has been backbred to a Golden Retriever); every Goldendoodle will go through various coat phases and changes and every Goldendoodle will at some point in time, require coat maintenence…as all dogs do. Many Goldendoodle breeders will lie to you and tell you that a “Miniature Goldendoodle” is a dog that will range from 35-50 pounds. By kennel size standards, a Miniature sized dog does NOT exceed 25 pounds in genetic body weight. There is nothing “Miniature” about a dog of any breed, that exceeds 25 pounds in genetic body weight. Goldendoodles can weigh from 9 pounds to 150 pounds! Experienced Goldendoodle breeders can determine the sizes of their Goldendoodles much easier than an inexperienced Goldendoodle breeder, by using their past experience as well as past customer feedback. If you have to have a Goldendoodle that will be a particular size as an adult and are a stickler for size, the Goldendoodle may not be right for you. Unless you are willing to purchase a Goldendoodle puppy who is 6 months or older, you will have to rely on the Goldendoodle breeder’s experience if you must have a Goldendoodle who is one size or another. Even then, it is only a “guesstimate” and not something a breeder can guarantee. Goldendoodles are hybrid dogs and can sometimes even fool the most experienced breeder, when it comes to size. So, if you are on a doodle quest, you have your work cut out for you. As far as the Goldendoodle dog is concerned, if you don’t own one, you haven’t ever owned the ultimate family dog! They are over all, fantastic dogs who are eager to please and always ready to be your friend.
